I've decided to try to update this space religiously for the internship period cos I'm too lazy to write down. Today was the first day at work, commuting to the CBD is interesting! soooo many people omg. Can't get into the train and the journey kinda suck. I gave the person the wrong A/C no. :( I better go down and tell the person tmr :( I don't remember who is it I hope the receptionist at Level 16 is friendly enough sigh. So I am attached to the HRBD. HR does not stand for Human Resources but Healthcare, Retail! Haha. We first had a briefing (there were 15 interns today and the guys are really vocal lucky they went to the IAL place after that and don't work at our site!) which took about 2 hours was dozing off. Made friends with this smu girl and this nus girl but they were all from IAL :( After that, we were bought to Level 18 Avalynn me and this nus guy called Julian who is in my department. Then we met with the RO who was a very nice lady and the people who lunched with us were very friendly :) They said RO is a very nice person and she doesn't look domineering. She talked to us for like 15 mins then it was 12 plus so she let us off ( I think she heard my stomach growling omg) and we ate lunch with about 5 or 6 colleagues there. They are all very young and from NTU/SMU/NUS too, the longest tenure is like 2 years and the newest guy there is 2 weeks into the job! Anyway after lunch RO continued talking. She is very nice she actually asked us about our interests and which areas we wanna go into. And when we wanted to do the marketing and engaging thing she give both of us the chance to do! But the other boring stuff like research she gonna split work I think she is giving me the healthcare part which sounded easier but the other one is a major project so there will be more learning opportunities since everyone will be in it somehow she says. Haha. And there was nothing to do for the rest of the 4 hours because the IT guy never managed to come and install our laptops so wheeeee. It was boring but i think 4 hours of 10 weeks is nothing so nevermind. Played sokudo on today's newspaper, read Urban and lots of random stuff. There is this WKWSCI girl who has been attached for 6 months but leaving soon she's kinda cute and small and friendly! :) And this girl gave us new stationeries like new pencil, pen, notebook, correction tape, note pad, post its, ruler, scissors!? Haha. The yong tau foo there somewhere (I duno where is the place just follow where they walk) is damn unique its dried and all fried and the noodles is thick beehoon and has some minced meat! Wanted to take a photo of my first meal but too paiseh! And we had eskimo after that! Food is expensive!!! The job scope sounds daunting though RO assured us. But it felt good because i think they are serious and doesn't treat interns as saikang warriors. Well maybe too early to say but i think there's brainwork involved sigh i hope I don't feel stupid and do wrong and stupid things! :( I think got alot of things to learn though, hope its the right choice choosing something different from HR department!!! Till tuesday then. :) Hope the IT guy never ever sets up my laptop! Sunday, May 22, 2011, 5/22/2011 07:39:00 PM
And at last, I am blogging! A long hiatus from the recess week. Many things happening and happened haha. Just ended exams only on the last day of the school's exam period last friday and tomorrow is the start of PA how can like that! It was good I finally had such ample time to study for exam. My exam started quite late, some people already half way through when I started. First time in NBS that I started late, and ended late! Used to having exams checked and completed in 2 weeks after the end of semester. Both have its pros and cons though. Don't think the 7 day break in between Employment Law and 227 was productive. It was counterproductive I don't think I did very well for 227 :( On the other hand, I'm quite relieved to have survived co law and emp law! Can't say much about the results but towards the last days of preparations and during the exam they felt quite good. Crossing my fingers. Nuff said about school, for now. I have been going to Fairprice Extra like 5 times this week running errands (more than my mum!) Mum had some infection on her skin arghh. :( I think she is quite sad though I consoled her and said the same things she said to me when my allergy came the other time. Sigh. Hope she get well soon!!! Just bought the manicure/pedicure vouchers from Groupon! Quite noob about this where is my voucher? Haha. But but anyway am excited I badly need someone to get rid of all the callus on my sole for me! And I can do with some pampering hehe. I think I should use the computer less often now, at least tonight since I will be staring at one for 1/3 of a day every weekday the next 10 weeks. Argh. I am scared now! Hope I can make friends with the other interns from NBS and also I hope my supervisor is nice and all. And I know the later I start working on FYP the harder it gets so I SHOULD START SOON LIKE NOW. :( I can't wait to see the culture at my new workplace and hopefully there's no need to wear formal office wear. Would be great if they are more lax about it :) I think they should be quite lax since can wear jeans on friday! Friday ftw. Haha. Hmm, my take on the elections though it's kinda outdated but anyway so angry I can't vote I'm 13 days short! :( But anyway I am for lightning, maybe at least until I (finally) have the opportunity to buy a HDB or get married, I'm pretty thankful for what we have in Singapore. Yes houses are expensive, inflation is rising, I'm shit in school, maybe if I was in the engineering school I will hate the foreign talents, I hate the crowded trains I take everday, I know how it feels like all the gerrymandering (Hello I took a 50 minute bus ride to school everyday for 2 years (marine parade grc) and I can walk to serangoon stadium within 15 minutes to attend WP's rally (aljunied grc)...I believe that some ministers made some mistakes and I believe they should take full responsibility. Some problems that we faced are really minute compared to what the other people are facing in other parts of the world. Maybe we should ask ourselves whether we should be contented for what we have. Just my two cents. Well, but I always believe in results. Promise what you can deliver. Bh227 says the best predictor of future performance is past performance! Haha. And yesss, I am saddened that I missed out so much on the elections, all the rallies that were held at serangoon stadium! I'm sure the next election would be very interesting, yes we need changes and we are seeing some changes already. It is good that we have some alternative voices around definitely! But I like Mr George Yeo he's really one of a kind! It's sad that aljunied and Singapore lost him as a MP and minister! I hope work turns out fine tommorow, and the rest of the 50 days ahead. =x |
